Everyweather is a daily practice of weather observation, kept by hand, recorded in place.

It begins in the West River watershed of southern Vermont, where the river runs down from the Green Mountains through Jamaica, Townshend, and Newfane before meeting the Connecticut at Brattleboro. One scribe begins; a second will join shortly. Each day, a single observation: what the sky did, what the animals did, what the watershed felt like to a person who was paying attention.

The form is open. An observation may be a sentence or a paragraph. It may include a photograph, a recording, a forecast for comparison. It is meant to be small, particular, and true.

Over time the entries accumulate into a record of a place and the people in it — a record of a person being weathered, and of a place weathering a person. In an age of erratic climate and abstracted forecasts, we believe the daily, local, felt observation is a small act worth keeping.

This is the beginning. More watersheds, more scribes, in time.
